# tap

Touch and release a screen position.

```js
tap(x, y, finger = 1, holdMs = 40)
```

## Arguments

| Argument | Type | Meaning |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `x, y` | number | Native screen pixels, top-left origin. |
| `finger` | number | Touch identifier; default 1. |
| `holdMs` | number | Hold duration in milliseconds; default 40. |

## Returns

No return value (`undefined`).

## Example

```js
const r = UIHelper.waitForElement({id: "continueButton", visible: true}).getRect();
tap(r.x + r.width / 2, r.y + r.height / 2);
```

## Notes

The selector is an example: inspect the target app first. Prefer element.tap() when a physical gesture is unnecessary.
