# POST /device/button

Press and release one hardware button.

This is a device HTTP route. Set `DEVICE_URL` to your reachable device URL; [connection and examples](https://mcp.applesauceos.com/doc/http.md) explain how. Do not append this path to the public MCP URL.

## Parameters

| `button` | JSON string | home, power, volume_up or volume_down. |

## Response

JSON {pressed:button}.

## Notes

Does not bypass a passcode. Returns 503 when touch input is unavailable.
